Blackstone River Greenway ribbon cutting
Ribbon cutting for a .44-mile extension of the Blackstone River Greenway.
This short new segment extends the 3.7-mile Uxbridge-to-Blackstone portion of the paved bike path to the Rhode Island state line in North Smithfield. From there, it continues another half mile to Cold Spring Park in Woonsocket, R.I. (Between Cold Spring Park and River’s Edge, cyclists have to ride on the streets of Woonsocket. From River’s Edge, the paved bike path goes 10 miles to Cumberland, R.I.)
The extension is on the newly restored Blackstone Viaduct, built in 1872 to carry trains over the Blackstone River.
